From A Technical Writer's Diary

This day as I leave a long phase of my career journey to begin a new one, I lend voice to my thoughts which are flowing in passionately as a stream meets the river. I remember the exciting moments  at the beginning of my career at ST.

My team was a small one then. Designers opted to come to us mostly as they needed support in getting the document quickly. We managed what they could not. It was their choice to come to us or not.

What a difference has it been since then! Neatly managed templates, a ticket tracking mechanism for documentation service, documentation repository, tool related support, document reviews, implementing feedback from customer surveys, single sourcing, documentation templates, standardization, and web pages for documentation support have contributed to this change. From a choice, the documentation has become a mandatory requirement to comply with.

What I will most remember - The interaction with design people, their earnest requests to send the document, the hurry and urgency of the situations when delivery was close, and the eagerness to document and provide the support.

The times we celebrated together: the birthdays, fun and laughter, merry dancing on Bollywood songs during  group video, smashing the cake on the face of the birthday boy /girl, feedback and reviews, team outings, the cricket matches while enjoying the team outing, competitions for breaking ice with fellow employees, and emotional parting speeches during employee farewells -these are just a few items that I will always cherish about my stay at ST.
